Case study

OnJ Hotel

Boutique Hotel
Lisbon
Designing a morning atmosphere that feels soft and welcoming — while subtly guiding operational flow.

Observation

The brief was a paradox: create a soft, welcoming morning mood while keeping check-outs naturally on time.

The challenge was to avoid “pushing” guests who wanted to linger for brunch, while still supporting the hotel’s operational rhythm. Music needed to influence perception of time without ever feeling manipulative.

Proposition

We built a morning arc that rises almost invisibly.

Warm textures led by voice, strings and piano formed the emotional base. Subtle rhythmic structures were introduced progressively, without aggressive beats or sharp transitions.

The playlist was designed to shape perceived time and gently cue movement, while preserving the calm and elegance expected from a boutique hotel experience.

Result

Guests experienced a serene and refined atmosphere that still supported operational flow.
Music became an invisible regulator: soothing, but directional.
The space felt intentional ; never rushed, never stagnant.

“This playlist really powers the ambient of this spot. You notice it but in the good way,

know its there and feel good about it. Complements the background and fullfils it.

Keep up the good work!”
